This is the Pfeil Shoulder knife Markus mentioned in his comment in the precedeeng post. I had never heard of this one until now. Based on knives used in medieval times for veneering, and providing more control by resting the handle on the shoulder, therefore the user has more control as to where the blade goes.

Here is a picture of some Sarawak parangs and other smaller knives that have long handles. I know there are other pictures of those long handled knives but can't find them at the moment..
So here are some beauties to drool over!
