Just one picture today!
I have reached the stage where I am almost ready to fibreglass the sides. On the picture, the left hand side still need the filleting done, to enable the glass cloth to follow the shape of the sides. I took the picture yesterday. The filleting is done today, and the side sanded. There are still a few places needing a bit more filling and then some further sanding. All the plywood corners were rounded over using a router.
A few stats: 36' long, 3' wide, I estimate the weight of each sides to be about 400kgs. There are about 100' of filleting on each sides and about 400 stainless screws and bronze ringnails on each sides! Not really useful to know any of that, but it's interesting...
. . . and here I am, just puttering along on my tiny boat build. You've more work in the sides that I'll have in my whole boat.
ReplyDeleteI think I am onto a winner Sixbears: I'll see the photos of your boat and of your using it before you see mine!
DeleteJust don't overdo it, my friend.
ReplyDeleteSixbears, yours will be easier to launch!
I am taking it fairly easy at the moment, as I want to be able to enjoy that boat for a long while, but as the docs said I need exercise!
