The fields around the nature reserve are intensively farmed. Even there though, there is much wildlife to be seen. Poppies had disappeared years ago and have made a come back. Those poppies are in a field bordering the reserve.

Poppy fields and sunset
As a change from all those posts about our boat building, here are some pictures I have taken tonight. Nature around here is very "civilised" farmland and even the nature reserve is very carefully managed. Nevertheless there is much beauty to be seen. The nature reserve is a little remnant of what the great East Anglian marshes were like before they were drained and turned to farmland. I haven't seen them, but I know there are otters there. Marsh harriers, buzzards, kestrels and barn owls hunt there. Foxes and deer live there too. Herons and Little Egrets hunt the frogs and fishes in the dikes and ponds.
