To add to my "wildwood" collection of carving knives, I have made a couple of what I call hybrid crooked/spoon knives. By hybrid, I mean they can be held like a crooked knife or as a" normal" spoon knife. The blades, one left and one right handed are forged out of new silver steel. Both blades still need final sharpen and honing.

Again, I have used Ivy for the handles. The blades are epoxied into the handle.
I would think they would be quite useful!

DeleteI like! Ivy is a great material.... but rather soft, is it? Cming to think of it, I got some still lying around...hmmmm;-).
ReplyDeleteActually, it's not that soft! The handles are quite solid, even though the wood is somewhat spalted, having spent a very wet 9 or 10 months outside in a heap since I cut it! I am planning a knife with a 3" blade, it will have a Ivy handle. Watch this space!
